MICAD joins the Digital4Sustainability Alliance: advancing a more inclusive digital transition
MICAD has joined the Digital4Sustainability Alliance Community, a European community bringing together organisations committed to advancing the skills, knowledge and approaches needed for a more sustainable digital transition.
For MICAD, digital transformation and sustainability cannot be addressed separately. Digital technologies can support more sustainable and resilient communities, but their benefits will only be fully realised if digital transformation is inclusive, participatory and responsive to the needs of the people and places it serves.
Joining the Alliance provides MICAD with an opportunity to connect with a wider community of practitioners working at the intersection of digitalisation and sustainability, while sharing the project’s experience and perspectives on the role of local and metropolitan authorities in the twin transition.
MICAD is particularly interested in contributing to discussions on how digital transformation can be shaped through participation and co-creation, ensuring that different needs and perspectives are heard and that no one is left behind. Metropolitan and local authorities are key actors in making this happen: they connect innovation and policy with the realities of communities and can help ensure that digital solutions contribute to more inclusive and sustainable outcomes.
The partnership also provides a valuable space for MICAD to share practical resources developed through the project. One example is the MICAD Capacity Building Strategy, which provides a framework for strengthening the capacities of local and metropolitan actors to navigate the digital and climate transitions. It brings together the knowledge, capabilities and approaches needed to support more effective and inclusive transformation, and reflects MICAD’s focus on turning digital and climate ambitions into action at the local level.
By sharing this type of resources, MICAD can contribute practical knowledge and lessons from the project while learning from other European experiences and approaches. This exchange can help strengthen a shared understanding of how capacity building, participation and local action can support a more sustainable digital transition.
As proud partners of the Digital4Sustainability Alliance Community, the members of the MICAD consortium look forward to learning, sharing and advancing our shared goals.
