MICAD and sister projects exchange perspectives on inclusive green and digital transitions in Brussels.
On 14 October 2026, MICAD participated in “Twin Transition: Making it Work in Europe’s Cities and Regions”, a workshop organised by its sister project RECODE MLG at Norway House in Brussels, on the margins of the European Week of Regions and Cities. The event brought together policymakers, researchers and practitioners to discuss how multilevel governance, co-creation and cooperation between institutions can support more inclusive green and digital transitions.
Representing MICAD, Metropolis, the project coordinator, presented the project’s approach during the session “Making Europe’s Twin Transition Work in Cities and Regions”. The contribution highlighted the importance of metropolitan areas in addressing climate and digital challenges, particularly through inclusive planning, institutional cooperation and the development of practical tools and roadmaps adapted to local contexts.
The exchange highlighted several challenges shared by the participating projects, particularly the need to strengthen cooperation across levels of government, involve citizens and stakeholders meaningfully, and ensure that European transition objectives respond to different territorial realities. It also provided an opportunity to share approaches and experiences, identify common questions and explore potential synergies between the projects.
Participation in the workshop reinforced MICAD’s engagement with other European initiatives working on inclusive governance and the twin transition. Exchanges of this kind provide opportunities to share methodologies, compare experiences and identify areas for future cooperation, helping ensure that knowledge developed through Horizon Europe projects can contribute to broader policy discussions and practical action.
