The official start: the kick-off meeting hosted in Chisinau, Moldova
From March 12th to March 14th 2025, the MICAD consortium gathered in Chisinau, the Capital City of the Republic of Moldova, for the project’s official kick-off meeting. This event brought together all partner organisations, laying the foundation for strong collaboration and a shared vision in implementing inclusive metropolitan transitions. The meeting provided an opportunity to agree on project goals, discuss research methodologies and approaches, and lay the groundwork for developing a concrete methodological framework adapted to the specific contexts, needs, barriers and challenges of the metropolitan areas involved in the project (localised roadmaps).
To simplify decision-making processes and provide governance strategies, MICAD will provide replication guidelines that are practically viable in diverse European contexts and have been tested and improved with the five metropolitan partners (toolkit).

As part of the kick-off meeting, the first General Assembly of the project was held, ensuring that all partners were aligned on governance structures and key priorities.
Additionally, an open session took place with the main goal of introducing the project to local key stakeholders, including government officials, civil society representatives, and academics, in order to share visions and concerns, collect insights and recommendations, and to enhance effectiveness and connections with external actors who may benefit from MICAD.
Thanks to the partners’ enthusiastic participation and the excellent welcome organised by the City of Chișinău, the consortium was able to start building the right synergies for promising and effective collaboration.
