City of Tirana – Bashkia Tiranë (AL)

The Municipality of Tirana serves as the local government authority responsible for administering Albania’s capital. It has a population of approximately 500,000 residents, though the metropolitan area surpasses 900,000. It manages urban development, public services, and sustainability, aiming to enhance quality of life. Its leadership is focused on long-term investments in the environment, infrastructure, and digital access to position Tirana as a resilient, forward-looking capital in the Western Balkans.

Role in the project

Tirana supports the analysis of challenges and opportunities for inclusive metropolitan planning and helps identify needs and solution models for digital and climate transitions. It will join the Digital Transition Operational Hub, contribute to the working groups on potential replicators, and develop a roadmap for Tirana’s digital transition aligning local efforts with national and EU policies through multi-level cooperation.
