GZM Metropolis – Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia (PL)
The Metropolis GZM is the first metropolitan association in Poland. It is composed of 41 cities and municipalities with a total area of 2.5 thousand square kilometers, inhabited by 2.1 million people, 280 thousand companies and enterprises operate, generating about 8 percent of the country’s GDP. GZM aims to enhance residents’ quality of life by implementing shared solutions that drive economic and social development, strengthening its competitiveness nationally and globally.
Role in the project
GZM supports the analysis of challenges and opportunities for inclusive metropolitan planning and helps identify needs and solution models for digital and climate transitions. It will join the Climate Transition Operational Hub, contribute to the working groups on potential replicators, and develop a roadmap for GZM’S climate transition aligning local efforts with national and EU policies through multi-level cooperation.
